Woman hacked to death by former live-in partner in Olango

A 32-year-old woman died after she was hacked to death by her former live-in partner in Barangay Santa Rosa in Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City at 6 a.m. Thursday, May 24.

Dolorosa Pogoy, a mother of four children, was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians of Santa Rosa Community Hospital after she sustained several hacks and stab wounds on her neck and body.

SPO1 Erwin Suson of Olango Island police station identified the suspect as Aljun Cañete, 41, a fisherman.

Suson said that Pogoy and Cañete had an informal separation due to frequent quarrels.

The victim then moved out of house with her children.

Pogoy was allegedly with another man named Adelmir Fernandez, 36.

The suspect, who was upset of the news, tried to kill Fernadez however, Pogoy suddenly came in between and was attacked by her common-law-husband.
