VILLAGE chiefs of seven barangays who had already submitted their proposals for financial assistance to the Cebu City government are calling on the Cebu City Council to pass the supplemental budget, where the allocation for the barangay aid of P58 million is included.
Omar Durano, Cogon-Ramos barangay captain, said that he hoped that the Council would approve the SB and that the money for their projects would be released soon.
He said that they planned to spend the P8 million they asked from the city government to buy a new garbage truck, closed circuit television cameras and various drainage construction in the barangay.
The other six barangays who had submitted the proposals for the financial assistance are Buhisan, Capitol Site, Kinasang-an, Pahina Central, Talamban, and Tejero.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña assured the barangays that he would return their share of the P800 million financial aid that was disallowed by state auditors and that he would request for another supplemental budget for these barangay’s respective projects.
“They will get it back. Legally. But they should also liquidate … and state specifically what’s it for,” said Osmeña. / CNU Intern Nikki Villagorda
