The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) will review the special Agreement for Protected Areas (SAPA) issued to different establishment around the coastal areas of Tañon Strait.
According to AM Prospero Lendio, Tañon Strait Protected Seascape (TSPS) Protected Area Superintendent, DENR-7 has issued around 75 SAPA to establishments in Tañon Strait, which include ports, beach resorts, power plants, and shipyards.
“Aside from that, we also have more than 20 pending applications of SAPA from our office,” Lendio said.
He added that they are still waiting for further instructions from their Central officer after the agency has lifted its suspension early this month.
The DENR suspended the issuance of SAPAS in 2011 following the absence of standards rate for the “development fees” imposed on applicants.
