Cebu City grads dominate CPA board exam

Graduates from the University of San Carlos dominated the May 2018 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) board exam, whose results were released on Monday, May 28.

Steward Herbie Tan Po landed in the Top 3 with an average score of 91%.

Po was followed by Erra Kaye Heruela Doble, who ranked 4th with a final average score of 90.83%.

Other USC topnotchers are: Peliza Faith Dacuyan Cabañero and Irish Abella Kabingue (7th, 89.83%); Charisse Michaela June Quilicot Catiel and Miguel Albert Morantte Taveros (8th, 89.50%); Angela Joy Tiu Go and Richmond John Tiu Rockwell (9th, 89.33%).

Meanwhile, graduates from the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJR) and Southwestern University also made it on the top 10.

Princess Obregon Gumanit from USJR (8th, 89.50%), Fritz Amiel Lamis Desabille from SWU (9th, 89.33%), and Ma Lucille Velasco Ferrer from USJR (10th, 89.17%).

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), only 2, 843 out of 9,830 examinees (28.92%) passed the exam.

The examination was held on May 13, 20, and 21 at PRC testing centers in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, and Tacloban.
