No drugs found in follow-up Greyhound op at Mandaue jail

NO illegal drugs only assorted drug paraphernalia, mobile phones and other prohibited items were found at the male dorms of the Mandaue City Jail during a Greyhound operation conducted early Friday.

Jail Warden Supt. Jessie Calumpang said he requested the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 7 to conduct the operation as
follow-up to a similar activity held more than a week ago at the Therapeutic Community Building where a known drug lord, Steve Go was confined.

Among the confiscated items were 10 mobile phones, chargers, cash amounting to more than P2,000, disposable lighters, tin foils, packs of cigarettes, improvised tooters and sharp-pointed metal objects.

Last week’s operation resulted to the relief of seven jail guards who were found to be involved in the sneaking in of some contrabands.

They are currently assigned at the regional office pending further investigation and possible sanctions

Calumpang said he will again appeal to the court to transfer Go from the Mandaue City Jail to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center  (CPDRC) which he said, is more secure.
