Though not all schools will open tomorrow, students and workers are advised to leave home early to avoid being trapped in traffic.

“Actually dili heavy ang traffic ang atong gi-expect (today) kay dili tanan school ang mag-open (Actually we are not expecting a heavy traffic today since not all schools will start their classes today),” said Cebu City Transportation Office operations chief Francisco Ouano said.

“Apan gibantayan na g’yud nato kining N. Bacalso Avenue kanang naa pay gitrabaho kay mohoot na siya diha (Still we are also focusing on the traffic along N. Bacalso Avenue due to the ongoing road work there),” he said.

Phase four of the underpass project is still ongoing. Ouano said the traffic bottlenecks are in schools which have a large number of students like the Guadalupe Elementary School.

All 200 traffic enforcers in Cebu City will be on duty 24 hours a day for the opening school week and they will be augmented by police and ronda tanods, Ouano said.

In Talisay City Supt. Marlu Conag, Talisay City police chief, said their personnel will help man traffic.
