ALTHOUGH enjoying the celebrity status they are getting in their hometown in Maasin City, Southern Leyte, the Pagara brothers, Jason and Albert, have not forgotten the task at hand as they gear up for their bouts in the Pinoy Pride 44 fight card at the Maasin City Sports Complex this Saturday.
The younger Pagara, Albert (29W-1L-0D, 20KOs), who is 24 years old, is looking to extend his winning streak to four as he faces Ghanian boxer Gabriel Odoi Laryea (20-3-2, 14KOs) for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental super bantamweight title. The 29-year-old Jason (40-3-1, 25KOs) will fight Wellem Reyk (19-18-4, 5 KOs) of Bogor, Indonesia in the undercard.
“I want to give an all-out performance before my hometown crowd in Maasin City. This fight will be my stepping stone to my [bid for] a world title,” said Albert Pagara in an article published at Philboxing.com.
Albert last lost to Mexican Cesar Juarez last July 9, 2016, at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California for the WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight title. He was knocked out in the eighth round. He has won three straight after that.
Jason is also seeking redemption after he got knocked out in the sixth round by Japanese Hiroki Okada last December 19, 2017 in Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
