Southbound lane of Mananga Bridge 3 to be closed for one month for renovation works

A PORTION of the southbound lane of the Mananga Bridge 3 in Talisay City will be closed starting Friday at 9 p.m. for the resumption of the 28-million bridge rehabilitation project.

Jonathan Tumulak, Capitol’s focal person on traffic management, said the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas (DPWH-7) will be closing one of three southbound lanes for a month.

“Expect ta og flow ra gihapon ang dagan sa traffic. Paningkamotan lang gyod sa City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority (CT-TODA) nga flowing ra gyod ang traffic,” he said.

CT-TODA Chief Almond dela Peña said they will deploy at least 10 traffic personnel, in two shifts, to help man the traffic on the bridge of the Cebu South Coastal Road in Talisay City.

He said they will apply the same traffic scheme they used when one Cebu City-bound lane was also closed for renovation last April.

DPWH-7 District Engineer Leslie Anthony Molina said the rehabilitation will include scraping off and replacing the 390-meter old asphalt of the road.
Aside from that, he said they will also replace the two 10. 5-meter expansion joints of the bridge.

Due to the expected gridlock, Molina is asking for patience and understanding from the affected motorists.

“We ask for their understanding nga naa gyod tay trabahoon (that we need to do the job). Pero atong paningkamotan ma-address nato nga madali ang trabaho (But we will try our best for a speedy repair),” he said.

Molina said they are targeting to finish the reconstruction of Mananga Bridge 3 after a month or by the second week of July.
