Miss Mandaue 2016 tries luck in Miss Manila pageant

Malka Shaver

AFTER her stint in Binibining Cebu 2017, Cebu-based beauty queen Malka Shaver is trying her luck in Miss Manila 2018.

Shaver, who represented Mandaue City and finished in top 12 in Binibining Cebu 2017, confirmed to Cebu Daily News that she is joining this year’s Miss Manila pageant.

“I’m still young and I still have dreams of making the most of this pageant world and hopefully doing something with my title,” she said.

She said one of her preparations for Miss Manila 2018 is mostly conditioning herself to be more positive.

She added that she is confident that she has a strong chance to make it because of her pageant training in Cebu.

“But also, it’s new territory and I’m just being mindful and observant so I can play the field the way I should,” she added.

Shaver, 23, is a freelance model and a native of Dumaguete City. She finished her Degree in Mass

Communication at Silliman University. Before she moved to Cebu City, she was crowned as Miss Dumaguete 2014.

She was also crowned Miss Mandaue 2016 and joined Hiyas Nan Carrascal in 2017, where she was named second runner-up.

The Miss Manila 2018 grand coronation night will be held on June 26 at the Reception Hall of Philippine International Convention Center.

According to its Facebook page, Miss Manila 2018 is presented by MARE Foundation and a production of Viva Live Inc.

Last year’s winner was Maria Gail Tobes from Northern Samar.
