Police have identified village treasurer’s killer

Police already have the cartographic sketch of the suspect in the killing of a barangay treasurer in Talisay City.

Chief Superintendent Marlu Conag, chief of the Talisay City Police Office, confirmed they already identified the suspect in the murder of Rogelio Paradiro, 42, the treasurer of Barangay Lawaan of the city.

According to Conag, they could not disclose yet the name of the suspect as they were still trying to locate him. The suspect also has a standing arrest warrant for two previous murder cases, he said.

Conag added the suspect will face a third murder case over the killing of Paradiro.

Conag said they have witnesses who pointed to him as the assailant of Paradiro, who was also the campaign manager of Barangay Captain Joel Cabo of Lawaan, Talisay City during the barangay elections last May.

Police investigation showed that Paradiro was watching a volleyball game with his wife in Barangay Lawaan when he was shot in the head by one of the two men riding on a motorcycle.

While politics could be a motive for the killing, Conag said they were looking at other possible motives, including a land dispute that Paradiro was involved before he died.
