Provincial Board (PB) Member Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano was conferred the rank of major as a reserve military officer in a ceremony held at the 53rd Engineer Brigade Multi-Purpose Hall in Camp Lapu-Lapu on Saturday.
Brigadier General Bernie Langub, the Army Reserve Command (ARC) chief, conferred to Ouano the rank of major of the ARC unit under the 1901st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade.
“Now that I am a reservist of the Philippine Army, I will do my best to serve my flag and my country with utmost sincerity,” Ouano said.
He added that he will soon be doing medical missions and other civic actions together with other reservists and military personnel.
“Being a reservist and the same time a legislator, for me are similar terms of wanting to serve the people. I get to enjoy both,” he said.
Ouano’s father, the late PB Member Thadeo Ouano, was also a military reservist who likewise held the rank of major before he died in February 2016.
