UV shoots for second straight victory in Partner’s Cup

THE REIGNING champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers will be going for their second straight win today when they tangle with the Casino Active-University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars today in the 2018 Cesafi Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

UV is coming off a dominant 94-67 win over the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors in a game that was marred by a free-for-all that was triggered by a fracas between UV guard Tristan Albina and USC forward John Reel Saycon.

With Albina sidelined with a one-game suspension, UV will be leaning more of their new foreign player Lassina Coulibaly from the Ivory Coast, who exploded for 24 points in the victory.

Former league MVP Rey Suerte will also be tasked with shouldering more of the scoring chores alongside skipper Josue Segumpan.

The Jaguars are raring to get into the win column after suffering an 81-84 loss at the hands of the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters last Saturday.
USJ-R led for most of the way, but eventually succumbed to UC’s awesome firepower in the fourth period.

Nevertheless, reigning Cesafi MVP Jaybie Mantilla , will spearhead USJ-R’s cause but will need some much-needed help from the likes of RJ Dinolan, Miguel Gastador and Tricky Peromingan.

The high school teams of UV and USJ-R will open the curtains of today’s playdate at 5 p.m.

Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – UV vs USJ-R (High School)
6:30 p.m. – UV vs USJ-R (College)
