THE Philippine National Police said cops are under investigation after jailed former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. posted “selfie” pics on his social media accounts on Thursday, exactly the fourth year since he entered prison.
A report of the Philippine News Agency on Friday, citing PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Benigno Durana Jr., said police are looking into the liability of guards at the PNP Custodial Center where Revilla is detained.
Durana said the PNP will check for violations of rules being implemented for those detained at the custodial center.
Erring policemen on duty will be dismissed if found guilty of neglect of duty, he said.
Revilla is in jail for his alleged involvement in the multi-billion peso Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF) or pork barrel fund scam.
Revilla, posted a selfie on Facebook on June 21 and said, ““Today is exactly my 4th year in prison,” lamented Revilla. “This is 4 years away from my family; missing out on the milestones to my children’s lives; 4 long years that I can no longer get back.”
Revilla said there were instances when he wanted to give up. “May mga panahon na dumating sa akin na talagang gusto ko na sumuko,” Revilla continued. “Pagod na rin po ako. Pagod na pagod na…” There are times I want to give up. I’m tired. I’m really tired.)
However, the former senator said he finds strength from his faith, adding that he prays he will someday get justice.
“Dasal ko pa rin na mangibabaw na ang katotohanan (I pray for truth to prevail),” said Revilla. “Hangad ko na sana, sa wakas, makamit ko ang hustisya (I hope I can finally get justice). Let us all continue to pray together! God is good!”
