THE University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers remain unbeaten as they won their third game in the Cesafi Partner’s Cup 2018 against the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras, 87-59, yesterday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
Both teams employed tight defense that it took three minutes into the ballgame before the scoring got started. The first quarter ended with UV just having a slim lead, 13-12.
In the second quarter, the SWU-Phinma wrested the upperhand on a 16-8 run and went into halftime with a 40-27 advantage.
The game continued to be heated in the second half as the Lancers regained the lead on an 8-2 run. A commotion then occurred following a collision between both teams’ centers which saw SWU-Phinma’s Edmundo Bayhonan committing an unsportsmanlike foul against Lancers’ import Lassina Coulibaly.
The Lancers then had a 62-41 advantage going into the final canto.
However, the Cobras lost fire in the final canto allowing the Green Lancers a 24-16 run littered with three treys from Josue Segumpan.
The loss dropped the Cobras to a 1-3 win-loss record.
