CIDG-7 TO POLICE
THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) has urged the region’s chiefs of police to intensify their campaign against illegal gambling.
This after the Philippine National Police (PNP) has implemented the “one strike policy” against all forms of illegal gambling, said CIDG-7 director Senior Supt. Royina Garma.
The “one strike policy” means that once illegal gambling is proven to exist in an area during a PNP raid, the chief of police in that particular station, the city and even the provincial director, will be automatically relieved.
In adherence to the PNP’s order, CIDG-7 is now conducting raids in suspected gambling areas.
“Kaya nga (That is why) when we conduct our operations we talk to the chief of police,” Garma added.
She said that because of the “one strike policy” a chief of police in Lapu-Lapu City was sacked.
Yesterday, 110 illegal gambling machines were destroyed by operatives of CIDG-7.
All in all, CIDG-7 has confiscated more than 300 video karera and mole-mole machines from the cities of Cebu and Talisay.
“We have conducted 87 operations already. But wala pa tayong nakuhang mga naglalaro o nag-ooperate during the time of our operations,” said Garma. (We conducted 87 operations already. But we have yet to arrest a single illegal gambler or operator).
