Lapu-Lapu police will conduct more foot patrols on the first Mandaue-Mactan bridge to deter troubled people from using the bridge to take their own lives.
Supt. Elmer Lim, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office deputy city director for administration, said this after the death of a 19-year-old woman, who jumped off the bridge after allegedly having a misunderstanding with her live in partner.
“We will have to intensify our foot patrols in the area to prevent such an incident from happening again,”said Lim in a phone interview on Saturday.
Lim was referring to the incident at past 1 a.m. on Saturday when the young woman, a guest relations officer (GRO) of a KTV bar in the city, took a cab from the bar to the first Mandaue-Mactan bridge, where she took her own life by jumping off the bridge.
The cab driver reported the incident to the Lapu-Lapu police.
SPO3 Allan Frederick Pantaleon, Homicide Section investigator, said that the body of the young woman was identified by her fellow GRO.
The coworker said that her friend had earlier cried at the KTV bar because she allegedly had a misunderstanding with her live in partner.
She was later shocked to learn about what happened to her fellow worker.
The young woman’s remains were brought to the Mahal Ko Funeral Homes in Lapu-Lapu City.
