‘LGUs should lead curfew enforcement’

Newly designated Cebu City police chief Senior Supt. Royina Garma said local governments should take the lead in ensuring the enforcement of a curfew for minors.

“For loitering children, we need a social case study from the city social welfare office. So even if we want to file a case we find it difficult to do so. All we can do is simply rescue, turn over, wait for the social case study, (then) file the case (to the parents),” Garma said.

Last Monday at 10:00 p.m., Garma led a team to conduct “Oplan Bakal Sita” and “Oplan Kalsada” on barangays Sawang Calero, Suba, Pasil, and Ermita to enforce the city’s curfew ordinance.
