Osmeña requests 40 policemen to help man traffic in N. Bacalso

SUNDAY commuters in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City decide to walk after waiting for hours and still failing to get jeepney rides bound for the southern part of Cebu due to the heavy traffic between Mambaling and Barangay Pardo proper on Sunday, July 8, 2018, the eve of the official closure of the northbound lane of N. Bacalso Ave. to pave the way for phase 4 of the Mambaling underpass project.

 

Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he has requested at least 40 policemen to control the traffic at N.Bacalso Ave., following the 11-hour traffic jam last Saturday, July 7.

“Traffic management is not a function of the city government, it is a police function,” said Tomas.

Osmeña said that the CITOM could no longer manage traffic and that police can help relieve the problem.

On Saturday, the dry run caused heavy traffic, both heading to and from the city in Taguno, Cabreros, Tres de Abril, and Katipunan Streets. /USJR Delta Letigio
