Provincial Board (PB) Member Sun Shimura has appealed to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) to reconsider their decision on recalling the police escort of his stepdad, Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot.
The development came, following the slay of two mayor and a vice mayor in Luzon last week.
“That is one of our concern right now especially sa pagkuha sa katong duha ka detailed PNP personnel ni Mayor Loot,” said Shumira, who heads the Provincial Committee on Public Safety, Peace and Order.
Shimura said he is concerned over his stepfather’s safety after he was tagged as an alleged drug protector by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Shimura is also hoping that PRO-7 Chief Supt. Debold Sinas will reconsider their request.
“Hopefully, malooy pud ang atong mga kadagkuan sa PNP kay sila pud naay pamilya,” he said as mayors are entitled to have at least two police escorts.
Last May, Loot and Shimura’s family survived an ambush a day before the election.
They were on their way home from a trip in Malapascua Island when the incident happened.
In an interview with Sinas on Monday (July 9), he said they will not recall the security excorts of the mayors except for Mayor Loot.
