The recent controversy accusing her of physical assault of employees of a hotel in Cebu City has not only put Mabolo Barangay Captain Niña Mabatid in hot water but also led Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to give her the boot from Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK).

In a post on his official Facebook page today, Osmeña announced that Mabatid has been kicked out of BOPK, after a copy of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage showing her, and a companion identified as Ramon Floresta, assaulting a hotel staff and manager of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on June 19, began circulating on social media.

The video has since gone viral, having been viewed 209,609 times as of 5 p.m., gaining more than 1,500 reactions and shared over 300 times.

“As if her shenanigans with the ABC (Association of Barangay Councils) didn’t put her halfway out the door already. Captain or not, Niña Mabatid is now officially kicked out of BOPK,” said Osmeña.

The mayor, who leads BOPK, earlier slammed Mabatid following reports that the latter was endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte to run as ABC-Cebu City Federation president.

Osmeña stressed that BOPK will only endorse Kasambagan Barangay Captain Franklyn Ong for the city’s ABC Federation presidency.

Mabatid is currently facing a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas for grave misconduct, conduct unbecoming of a public officer, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service in relation to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

A copy of the complaint obtained by Cebu Daily News showed that the complaint was filed by Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Irene Juliet Lacerna, Welbert Bagondol Pepito, and Edwin Acuyan.

Sought for comment, Mabatid declined to admit or deny her involvement in the alleged physical assault incident.

She said the accusations against her were nothing but a political move that was intended to discredit her after President Duterte endorsed her as the next federation president of the ABC in Cebu City.

Mabatid said she would issue a formal statement to address the accusations point by point.
