THE OPTUM Knights pounced on the undermanned Streamline Kangaroos, 74-44, to grab their second win in a row in the Evo League class of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball, held over the weekend, at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.
With just five players playing because of violations committed during the opening ceremonies, the Kangaroos hung tough but eventually faltered in the third, where they got outscored 16-31, to fall behind, 56-34.
Nicole Sultan led the Knights with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Vincent Armamento added 13.
In another game in the Evo League, the SSI Research Now Warriors dumped the Author Solutions Inc. Hardbacks, 69-53.
The writing was on the wall as early as halftime, when the Warriors established a huge 42-23 cushion.
Dennis Poquita was the man of the hour for SSI as he had 10 points, five assists and five steals in the dominant win.
The Tech Mahindra Mighties were also victorious, besting the Cognizant Gladiators, 90-82.
While Robert Rebano and Steven Cabanday carried the scoring load for the Mighties with 27 and 25 points, respectively, it was King Olbes that anchored it all, narrowly missing a rare triple-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists.
The Dreamscape Networks Lions had a successful debut, destroying the Bombardier Greywolves, 64-36. Muscular forward Ralph Belarmino led the way for the Lions with a double-double performance of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
