Three men killed by a group of armed men in an internet cafe in Lapu-Lapu City

Three men, including a father and his son, were shot dead by two unidentified men this afternoon inside an internet cafe and mobile phone accessories store at BM Dimataga St., Lapu-Lapu City.

The fatalities were identified as Angni Osman, 52; his son Hasim Osman, 22; and computer technician Jamel Marangit Babanggol, 22. All were residents of Sitio Iba Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City and natives of Maranto, Lanao Del Sur.

PO1 Anthony Robert Piencenaves of the Homicide Section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) revealed that at around 2:15 p.m., three black motorcycles, with two persons on board on each vehicle and all wearning bonnets and helmets, arrived at the area.

Two of the backriders alighted and immediatly shot Hasim Osman, who was standing outside the store. The assailants then entered the store and repeatedly shot Angni Osman and Jamel Babangol.

The suspects immediately boarded the waiting motorcycles and exited passing at the back of the Birhen sa Regla Parish, said Piencenaves, quoting witnesses.

Piencenaves said they found around 15 spent cartridges of .45 and 9mm pistols at the crime scene.

Piencenaves said the families of the victims, however, did not want to have the crime scene processed and immediately took the fatalities with them.

But the police proceeded with the investigation and were looking for CCTV footages in the area to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the incident, said Piencenaves.
