THERE was normal traffic flow along the U.N. Avenue in Mandaue City despite yesterday’s start on phase one of the tri-level flyover project.
“As what they (Department of Public Works and Highways) told us before, they did not need to close any part of the road. They did not minimize the capacity of the road so it did not hamper the traffic,” Glenn Antigua, chief of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) said.
Antigua said there are still four traffic enforcers detailed in the area to guide traffic.
He said they don’t see any need to augment personnel there as of now.
DPWH-7 Regional Director Ador Canlas earlier said they will not close any part of UN avenue unless they provide four-lane service roads.
Canlas said stage one of the tri-level flyover project will consist mostly of removing road obstructions such as center islands, trees and electric posts and the acquisition of properties for construction of the service lanes.
