If Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s sudden replacement of Pantaleon Alvarez as Speaker of the House of Representative Speaker is not dramatic, then Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s 47-minute speech would even be more memorable.

An ordinary citizen would not have any idea that the ouster of Alvarez would unfold on the same day the President was set to deliver his third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
