City Hall’s unused equipment at P8M

ABOUT P8.5 million worth of equipment owned by Cebu City Hall was found to be unserviceable or unusable as of December 2017, the Commission on Audit (COA) said.

In its 2017 audit observation state auditors said most of the equipment was intended for agriculture and forestry (P2.7 million) and for information and communication technology (P1.39 million).

Other unused equipment included those for office-use (P915, 615); communication (P892, 988.40); medical equipment (P880, 875); various machinery (P555, 250); disaster and response rescue (P153, 935), sports (P44, 250); transportation (P39, 706); and others (P744, 297.50).

“The delayed or non-disposal of these unserviceable properties resulted in its further deterioration and reduction of its saleable value to the disadvantage of the government,” COA said in its audit report.

Despite this, state auditors earlier said they found fewer deficiencies in their audit of Cebu City Hall last year compared to 2016.
