CEBU City police will investigate reports of an ambush attempt on a radio station manager last Wednesday evening.
Marchoflix Lucabon, station manager of dyRF Bombo Radyo, reported the incident to the police shortly after it happened.
In his complaint, Lucabon claimed that he was headed home some distance from the radio station when he noticed two persons riding a motorcycle following him. Lucabon told police that his driver noticed that the back rider tried to pull out a gun.
He said he instructed his driver to change course and head to Colon Street to report the incident.
Two motorcycle cops then escorted Lucabon on his way home.
Prior to last Wednesday’s incident, Lucabon said he noticed a motorcycle rider texting on his cell phone while watching people entering and leaving the radio station at past 9 p.m.
Lucabon said two weeks ago he received death threats through their text hotline after he and a radio anchor tackled the incidence of extrajudicial killings in their radio programs.
Lucabon said he instructed his driver on what to do should some suspicious characters try to follow them.
“I could not imagine that it would happen to me and I told myself that I am safe,” Lucabon said.
Lucabon became a station manager two months ago.
Supt. Artemio Ricabo, deputy director for administration of the Cebu City police, said they will investigate Lucabon’s case.
