It’s still nine months away to the midterm elections but one opposition Cebu City councilor thinks the administration Bando Osmena-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) plans to align itself with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s party.
Opposition Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia told reporters that he received inside information that the BO-PK signified its interest to join the mayor’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) before President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, who leads BO-PK, declined to comment.
HNP was launched by Duterte-Carpio last Feb. 23 as a regional party to support her father’s administration.
Its members consisted of lawmakers kicked out of the PDP-Laban by secretary general and Davao del Norte 1st Dist. Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez.
The lawmakers then joined Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in ousting Alvarez as House Speaker.
Garcia said the presidential daughter’s party should look into BO-PK’s ties with the Liberal Party (LP).
He said the Barug Team Rama camp which is aligned with PDP-Laban still has to discuss whether or not to join the mayor’s group.
