THE SYKES Pioneers quickly got back on the winning track with a 70-63 victory over the Fusion BPO Services Dragons in Elite Classic division of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu.
After tasting their first loss of the tournament last week, Sykes got back to the drawing board and came up with a stellar gameplan to down Fusion.
Former University of Cebu Webmasters Earl Montilla and Janjan Auditor came up big for the Pioneers with 14 points each while Sherwin Anghay submitted 10 to pad their win-loss record to 4-1 and drop Fusion to an even 2-2.
In the other Elite Classic game, the ePerformax Reds barged into the win column, thanks to the herculean effort of big man Robert Gilo, who had 25 points and 14 rebounds to push them past the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs, 67-64.
The Reds, which improved to 1-3, also got 11 from Nolan dela Pena and 10 from Joey Marie de Guzman.
It was a sorry loss for the Boomerangs, which now lost six games in a row and remain winless. TJ Villacampa led the Boomerangs with 16 points, while Darryl Yap added 14.
