TALISAY CITY Aquastars big man Elmer Echavez was named the Most Valuable Player in the second season of the 2018 Cebu Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament.
Echavez, who also plays for the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, averaged 41.0 total statistical points and averaged 19.5 points per game while his teammates Kendrick Abarquez, and Keaton Clyde Taburnal were included in the Mythical Five.
The Aquastars went on a record-setting, 14-0, win-loss record in the Governor’s Cup en route to winning the title against San Francisco.
Echavez scored 21 in the title-winning Game 2 at the San Francisco municipal gym in San Francisco town, Camotes Island last July 15, despite nursing an ankle injury.
San Francisco’s Kenny Rogers Rocacurva, who averaged 20.6 points per game, was also included in the Mythical Five together with Consolacion Sarok Weavers’ team captain Emmanuel Villamor, averaged 23.5 points in the season.
