THE 1985 Legends, the 1999ers and the 2011 Elevens finished off their opponents to capture the championship in their respective divisions in the 2018 University of San Carlos (USC) North Alumni Basketball Conference (NABC) last Sunday at the USC North Campus gym.
In Division 1, the 1985 Legends blew away the 1988 Barakos, 76-54, behind the usual brilliance of ex-pro Lou Regidor, who tallied 22 points. Edwin Banaag and Bing Pua were also efficient with 20 and 18 markers, respectively, which helped the Legends regain the title.
Over in Division 2, the 1999ers escaped the 1997 Ronins, 87-76. It was a tightly contested match that went down the wire until Joseph Bragat and Fritz Villamor scored the telling baskets in the final minutes that helped push 1999 to the win and the title.
Bragat, a hardworking big man, led 1999 with 28 points while Villamor was just as lethal with 25.
And finally in Division 3, the 2011 Elevens reclaimed the throne with a 78-73 win over the 2008 Flyboys. 2008 appeared to be on its way to equalizing the best-of-three series when 2011 came alive in the fourth, sparked by the three-point shooting of MVP, Dave Guardiario, and wingman, Anthony Romaguerra.
Guardiario paced 2011 with 26 points while Romaguerra added 18.
2008 suffered greatly from the absence of top gun, Nico Magat, and the injury suffered by stud forward, John Cabellon, in the second canto.
