A jeepney driver’s daughter from Barangay Ibabao in Cordova town was hailed as the Provincial Awardee for the Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Child in Cebu for 2018.

Dylene Jee Polea, 14, is a consistent honor student since she was in elementary until now that she is in her ninth grade in Babag National High School.

“My greatest inspiration is really my family because I want to help them get out of poverty. I also want to pursue my dream to become a doctor,” said Polea.

Even if her parents belong to different religions, Polea said their faith brings them together and keeps them united to rise over the challenges that they face.

Polea received P5,000 cash prize from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Second placer Leah Mae Aton and third place winner Rhianne Jane Fuentes received P4,000 and P3,000, respectively.

Kerwin Macopia, DSWD Information Officer, said they chose the winners out of the entries submitted from each of the five clusters in the province.

Macopia said that each cluster sent an entry that they assessed based on the children’s academic performance, adherence to the guidelines of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the community engagement of the child.

Today (August 10), DSWD-7 will also be awarding the provincial awardees for Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Child of Bohol, while Negros Oriental and Siquijor awarding will be on August 16 and 17, respectively.

The provincial awardees will compete in the Regional Search for Exemplary Pantawid Children in September whose winners will represent the region in the national search on November.
