Emia, Estillore shine in Metro’s Race to Beauty

JOSEPH Emia and Angel Estillore ruled the 16-kilometer run of the Race to Beauty of the Metro Retail Stores Group that was held at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu yesterday.

Emia, one of the vaunted runners of the Rider Omega Tri Team, finished the 16-k male with a time of 57 minutes and 14 seconds, beating Kenyan Joseph Moruri, who settled for second place after clocking 58:13. Michael Largo salvaged third place after crossing the finish line with a time of 59:35.

In the distaff side, Estillore, clocked one hour, 19 minutes and 20 seconds to relegate Janine Camanse to second place with her time of 1:25.07. Josephine Rodriguez rounded up the top 3 after logging a time of 1:25.40.

In the 10-k race, Keenan Caburnay and Cherry Andrin dominated in their respective categories.

Caburnay breasted the finish tape at 34:10 to place first while Ariel Saballa placed second at 35:11, and Florendo Lapiz claimed the third spot at 35:21.

Andrin, for her part, finished the race at 42:29 beating Eva Mae Villarin, who settled for second at 42:46 while Jeneda Arquino claimed the third spot at 47.11.

The top three finishers in the 5-k male were Prince Joey Lee (16:24), Ruel Algufera (16:54), and Arnel Florentino (17:29), while Lourence Yvory Garcia (20:12) topped the distaff side followed by Geneciel Saballa (20:42), and Moira Frances Erediano (21:23).

The running event was not only aimed at promoting health and wellness among Cebuanos but it was also for a nobler cause as part of its proceeds will be used to help all abused women and girls who are now under the protection of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
