Inter-BPO V’ball
DEFENDING champions Sykes and Telepeformance took off to hot starts in the Cebu Inter-BPO Volleyball Cup yesterday at the Barangay Guadalupe Sports Complex yesterday.
Sykes, which defeated Calltek (now CTC BPO) for the women’s title last year, downed Lexmark, 25-8, 25-10, to log its first win of the eight-weekend tournament.
Last year’s MVP and present team captain of Sykes Sheila Bongo said that despite the strong start, she expects the competition to get tougher as the tournament progresses.
“There are a lot of strong teams this year and it would be wrong to be too confident because they can really give a good fight,” Bongo said.
In other games in the women’s category, CTC BPO defeated WiPro, 25-11, 25-12, Teleperformance crushed Accenture, 27-17, 25-20, and Conduent nipped ASPI, 25-18, 25-14.
Teleperformance, the reigning men’s champion, was also off to a sizzling start, defeating ePerformax, 25-13, 25-10.
Qualfon was victorious over Tech Mahindra, 25-15, 25-1, while Accenture beat Teletech, 25-21, 25-23, in other men’s games In the other bracket, Convergys beat Fluor, 25-13, 25-12, OP360 won against ASPI, 25-20, 25-11, and Hapaqueros escaped WiPro, 18-25, 26-24, 25-20.
