A TOTAL of 87 blood bags were collected during the bloodletting activity and Zumba foam party conducted by Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter in Lapu-Lapu City.

The event, held on the ground floor of the Mactan Convention Hall last July 28, was a joint initiative of DYAB Dugong Halad Kapamilya, Gaisano Mactan Island Mall and Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter.

It was also in coordination with Barangay Pajo residents led by Barangay Captain Junard “Ahong” Chan, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, Philippine Air Force and the Lapu-Lapu City government.

More than a hundred Pajo residents composed mostly of fire victims volunteered to donate blood but only 87 passed the screening.

Vic Jay Gonzal, the chapter administrator, explained that there are a lot of patients that need blood donors and the chapter is doing its best to save lives.

“We hope that those who donated blood would not expect something in return,” said Gonzal.

Later at 4 p.m. on the same day, a Zumba dance for a cause was held at the Hoops Dome to raise funds for the Philippine Red Cross for its humanitarian mission and community activities in Lapu-Lapu and Cordova areas.

The event had a registration fee of P200 and an additional P150 for the singlet.

Around 200 people joined the Dance for Humanity and received freebies, including free wellness check and raffle prizes.
