ABOUT two million sheets of land records in the Central Visayas are set to be digitized in the next 18 months.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) announced yesterday that they will start with the electronic data capture of land documents on September.
Engr. Maria Fe Baquirquir, chief of the Records Section, Surveys and Mapping Division of the DENR-7, said the electronic integration of their files is part of enhancing their services. With the electronic copies of the files available, Baquirquir said it will be easier to track the documents.
She also assured that the confidentiality of the documents will be observed in the data capture process.
“Those assigned to do the data capture will be hired by DENR and we will make sure that the documents will be preserved. They will not be allowed to bring their belongings, especially their gadgets, during the data capturing process,” said Baquirquir. She added the data capture team will visit their offices in Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol and Siquijor within the 18-month target timeline.
