Police urge Lim to surrender peacefully

Even before they could serve the arrest warrant against Peter Lim, police authorities in Cebu urge the controversial businessman to surrender peacefully.

Senior Insp. Dindo Alaras, commander of the Mabolo Police Station, said that surrending to law enforcers is the right option for Lim.

Alaras had a closed-door meeting with Senior Supt. Royina Garma, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director, on Thursday (August 16).

The Mabolo police station commander said they are waiting for the original copy of the warrant from the Makati City court.

Once they have the warrant, Alaras said they will serve it to Lim at his residence in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

Meanwhile, former congressman Tony Cuenco also urged Lim to surrender.

Cuenco said Lim’s indictment is a vindication of the congressional inquiry he organized in 2002.

The former Cebu City representative said he earlier found sufficient evidence against Lim but when he endorsed the case to the Department of Justice, the government did not act on it.

Now under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, Cuenco expressed hope that the government will really pin down Lim.
