There are at least three sets of people with their own ways of appreciating the explanation of PRO-7 chief, General Debold Sinas in relation to the death of SPO1 Roderick Balili and PDEA agent Von Rian Tecson.
There are those who believe in Sinas; there are those who do not; and there are those who just understand the situation. They all need to be respected as all of them have basis.
Those who believe in Sinas are sold out to the idea that the ambush incident in Perrelos, Carcar, last week, killing a PDEA agent, is distinct and separate from the accidental firing incident in Pinamungajan, Cebu, where a policeman was killed. They just happened at almost the same time.
The ambush might have been authored by the drug lords that Tecson had crossed paths with in relation to his job. This is supported by the fact that the build of Tecson’s gunman is small compared to that of Balili’s as per account of witnesses and CCTV footages.
This is supported further by the statement of SPO1 Von Tecson, the brother of the deceased agent that his brother confided to him that he received death threats from the drug lords. PDEA Director Aaron Aquino also claimed that his agents in Cebu are under threats from the drug lords; hence, he ordered the total reshuffling of Regions 6 and 7 agents that included Tecson.
Those who do not believe have basis also because of the hard to understand circumstances on the alleged accidental firing. A lot of questions surround the incident. Plus the police officials had their lips sealed as they waited for Sinas to speak.
Realistically speaking, netizens now cannot be easily misled more so the police brother of the deceased agent, SPO1 Tecson.
However, there are those who just understand the situation. It was like the suicide incident of SPO2 Victor Ayuman where his family asked a favor to make it appear as accidental firing so that they can claim the benefits.
Likewise, there are those who think that the PNP and all affected families may just agree with the theory of Sinas for more logical and practical reasons. Hence, both families are silent now.
Imagine if the PNP would admit that the ambush of Tecson was authored by the police and therefore state sponsored as some people want to project, what would the effect be? Can his parents claim the benefits? What legacy should he leave if the PNP reveals that it was part of government’s internal cleansing from those involved in drugs? Will it not be more painful to the family?
Even if a dead man tells no tales, Mayor Tomas Osmeña alleged that Balili is “not so nice”. Is he telling the truth? What about the background of Tecson, clean? Oh come on, Mayor Tom, why can you not treat the two dead persons fairly?
