Winners in today’s dancesports grassroots culminating program to compete in WDSF Cebu Open 2018
Young winners in today’s culmination of the year-round Dancesport Grassroots Program of the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) and spearheaded by the Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) will get to compete for the first time in the World Dancesport Federation Cebu Open 2018 – WDSF Open Latin (Adult) and ADSF (Amateur Standard and Latin, 10th DanceSport sa Sugbu.
The international event which was launched yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center dance studio is slated for September 8 and will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu City.
According to CCSC chairman Edward Hayco, whose wife Eleanor Hayco is also the DTCC directress, they would have wanted all grassroots dance athletes to compete in the international event but since the competition usually gathers about 600 dance athletes from all over the world, they have to choose the best of the best in today’s culmination to be held at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Sawang Calero.
Hayco added that they wanted to let the budding dance athletes experience how it is not only to compete in an international event but to also witness the top dance athletes in the world. Those who will not be fortunate to win will still get a chance to see the world’s best as they will be given free entry to the event.
DTCC principal coach and WDSF license adjudicator Crisaldo “Loloi” Rendon said that among the couples to watch is the world top 3 Timur Imametdinov and Nina Bezzubova representing Germany.
Others are Australia’s pairs of Barden Brodie and Lana Skrgic-de Fonseka and Chris Boon and Dale Zhao and Hidaeki Kishi and Shiho Tanaka, who are actors in Japan.
