UC’s new v’ball head coach on a mission

Making it to the top four in the volleyball contest of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) is the aim of University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters new head coach, Lemuel “Dave” Arreza.

“We are now working on improving our team work as well as familiarizing the players positions,” Arreza told Cebu Daily News.

Arreza had taken over the UC volleyball teams last summer.

Prior to that, he had helmed the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Spiking Cobras to the Men’s and Women’s titles last season.

UC athletic manager Jessica Honoridez said that they signed Arreza in the hopes of uplifting their team standings in volleyball.

According to Honoridez, UC’s volleyball teams were not doing well in the past seasons of the Cesafi.

With Arreza going back to his alma mater, he is optimistic of making a change in the Webmasters’ performance.

As a coach serving a new set of players, Arreza conceded that the process will take time to forge the Webmasters dominance.

“Actually, I am still analyzing and evaluating the players,” he stated. “Maybe next year I can guarantee something big coming from my team,” he added.

Arreza said that key players to watch out for in his women’s teams are Dinah Nacario, Julie Soco, Maria Fe Rosales and Iyanna Kaye Abellana.

In the men’s, his key players are Abella Nasario, John Espina, Joshua Rhey Sillos and Vince Alquizalas.
