TEAM Joeric Boxing and 10,000BC Boxing Gym each collected three wins in the maiden fight card of the Philippine Sports Commission Visayas amateur boxing program held last Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Team Joeric Boxing’s John Paul Dignos, Kenneth Espina and Sean Abello clinched impressive victories against their respective foes. Dignos beat Yeroge Gura of Team Rex Wakee Salud (RWS) Stable via a split decision in the 50-kilogram division while Espina handed another loss to RWS after scoring a first-round Referee Stoppage at the 1:46 mark of the 44-kg against Justine Equilla. Abello, for his part, stopped Nathaniel Alfornon of 10,000BC Boxing Club in the 40-kg also via referee stoppage.
Accounting for 10,000BC’s three wins were David Mancao, Jay Ryan Baricuatro, and Wyn Cabradilla. Mancao edged Team Joeric’s Prince Espina via unanimous decision in the 25-kg while Baricuatro grabbed a unanimous decision victory versus Jance Jezreel Quilaton of Team Cebu City in the 30-kg. Cabradilla, for his part, bested Keyl Sumalinog of Team Seva in the mosquito weight division.
Despite many of its pugs losing, RWS Stable still managed to tie the number of wins of Team Joeric and 10,000BC. Daryl Balderas beat Arniel Fajardo of 10,000 BC via unanimous decision in the 40-kg while Manolito Egdam scored a referee stoppage win over Denviel Patillano of Team Cebu City in the second round, and Alexis Jabonero escaped Cirizalde Dacumos of Team Cebu City via a split division in the 50-kg.
Other winners were Team Cebu City’s John Kevin Jimenez who scored a unanimous decision versus JM Andrejas of Team Joeric in the pinweight division; and Team Seva’s Kevin Sumalinog beat Wilfred Dibdib of RWS Stable in the light flyweight division via a second round referee stoppage.
In the lone female bout, Tricia Marie Llamas of Team Cebu City won over Patricia Sumalinog of Team Seva via unanimous decision in the 46-kg division.
