La Consolacion College on a roll in PSDL basketball

DESPITE being first timers, La Consolacion College (LCC) seems to be comfortable competing in the 9th Private Schools Development League (PSDL) 18-Under Basketball Tournament.

The team on Tuesday bagged its second straight win in the tournament after beating the Sotero B. Cabahug (SBC)- Forum, 44-22, at the Cebu Cherish School, Inc. (CCSI) Gym.

LCC head coach Raymund Fajardo expressed how grateful he is of how things have gone for the team so far.

“This is the first time we have joined this league. We limited the team before to join only in tournaments within our municipalities,” Fajardo told Cebu Daily News. “I am very thankful that the school permitted the team to play outside their comfort zone.”

As any first timer, Fajardo feels that the team has a lot to work on. “We only had a month to train as a team. We still have a lot to work on our defense and a lot more on our teamwork.”

LCC holds a record of 2-0 (win-loss) record in the 18-Under category. SBC-Forum has a 0-2 slate.

In other 18-Under games, St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) won against the Benthel Asia School of Technology (BAST) Lions, 40-38, while San Isidro Parish School (SIPS) Tamaraws defeated Ateneo de Cebu (AdC), 47-36.

SJA now holds a record of 1-1 while AdC has a 0-1 card. SIPS improved to 2-0 record while BAST dropped to 0-2.

In the 16-Under category, LCC also logged a win against Mandaue Christian School (MCS), 52-34; Salazar College of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Skyblazers defeated Nissi Academy, 36-35; and SJA ruled over Monterey, 31-28.

In the 14-Under division, BAST triumphed against Mount Olives School of the Philippines (MOSP), 43-13; Monterey won against Nissi Academy, 45-39; St. Louis College-Cebu (SLCC) defeated SIPS, 42-38; and SCSIT defeated SBC-Forum, 52-29.
