Sherilin leads Group E in MCBL

Sherilin continued to assert themselves, winning two in a row after demolishing Mapiglas, 108-65, in the Metro Cebu Basketball League last weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.

Japanese forward Shohei Horigo spearheaded the attack of the team owned by businessman Richard Mercado, as he piled up 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists to help Sherilin boost their record to 2-0 in Group E.

Five others scored in double figures for Sherilin. Albertnan Potencioso had 16, Oliver Sanoy had a huge double-double of 14 points and 14 boards, Ralph Belarmino and Joevince Canizares had 11 apiece while Ryan Llanos put up 10.

In other matches, Keano Petallar had 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists in Strive for Greatness’ 94-90 win over Tambuli; Andrei Ceniza scored 21 in Crown and Bridges’ 89-86 win over Roadstar; Jerome Soque tallied 22 to lead the Hoopsters past the Black Eagles, 92-74; Johnjae Dogomeo had 22 in the Hooptix’s 81-73 win over the Phantom Troupe; and Harold Bagahansol scored 24 to carry the Pinamungahan Ungas past the Hsembros, 100-69. Toyoflex also bested the Metro Cars, 99-90, even as Ralph Bande scored 24 points in Bricklayers’ 97-59 win over Primary.

Joel Bensig tallied 18 points and 13 rebounds in Brinnovid’s 83-72 win over New Bloods while Jojo Solitario pumped in 23 to lead Gemini past TUF IT Park, 73-64.
