Globe brings free Wi-Fi to over 10K stranded passengers at NAIA

WHILE stranded passengers wait for flight operations to resume at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City, Globe Telecom keeps them company with free Wi-Fi access.

Globe Telecom has provided free unlimited GoWiFi service to over 10,000 passengers who were stranded for hours at NAIA brought about by the incident involving a foreign airline.

This comes after an airplane skidded off the NAIA runway amid a heavy downpour around midnight of Thursday, August 16 . As a result, the runway was closed until almost midday of Saturday, August 18 and hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed.

To help ease the discomfort and inconvenience to the stranded passengers, Globe Telecom provided free GoWiFi access at NAIA Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4 from Friday, August 17 until Saturday midnight, August 18.

“We recognize the need of the stranded passengers to stay connected and get in touch with their loved ones during inconvenient times. This is why we provided them with free GoWiFi access as soon as we could and until midnight of August 18,” said Janis Racpan, Director for Business Development-WiFi Group at Globe.

With speed of 5-10 Mbps, stranded passengers were able to surf the internet, web chat or update their social media accounts for free.
