IT’S now almost a month since PDEA agent Von Rian Tecson was brutally killed in an ambush along the national highway in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City.
But the police are yet to arrest a single suspect or present a solid breakthrough that could lead to the resolution of the agent’s murder.
The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG)– Tecson also has not produced a single witness to the daylight ambush-slay.
Supt. Janeth Rafter, Public Information Officer of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) told Cebu Daily News that investigators are still looking for witnesses who are willing to execute an affidavit.
She also added that the Carcar City Police are still verifying the identities of the persons of interest earlier mentioned by the police.
Rafter also informed that Tecson’s family has not yet communicated with them regarding the case.
Tecson was ambushed at around 1 p.m. of August 8 while the PDEA agent was onboard his black Ford Ranger that was stalled by traffic.
Police reports said four men on two motorcycles opened fire at the passenger’s side of the 41-year-old agent’s vehicle, hitting him in the head and different parts of his body.
However, before Tecson breathed his last, the anti-narcotics agent was able to fire back, hitting one of his assailants.
Tecson was the second PDEA agent killed in a span of just 13 days.
On July 27, 2018, Earl Rallos, the assistant operations chief of the anti-narcotics agency succumbed to assailants’ bullets at a busy intersection beside the Cebu Provincial Capitol.
Rallos, 48, was on his way home when riding-in-tandem assailants peppered his vehicle with bullets.
Though bloodied, the former radio personality was able to get out of his car to seek help but was chased by one of the suspects who then finished the job by pumping bullets in the hapless victim’s head.
The murder of Tecson and Rallos are just part of the spate of killings in Cebu that has alarmed residents and officials because of their brazenness.
