What success means for Sarah Geronimo

POPSTAR Royalty Sarah Geronimo has been in showbiz for 15 years. But what does success for the 30-year-old singer and actress?

At the “Made By YOU – Celebrating Our Stories, Embracing New Possibilities” concert by Convergys last August 25, Geronimo defined success.

“Pagka-binigay na ni Lord ang pinapangarap mo, magkakaroon na ng ibang meaning ang success. Hindi fame, fortune, awards, at punong concert venues. Hindi na po doon masusukat ang success,” Geronimo told the audience at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

For her, success is when you inspire others to never give up on their dreams, to share one’s blessings, and touch other people’s lives.

“Nagkakaroon ng purpose ang lahat lahat sa buhay mo. Hindi pera at hindi rin love life. Si Lord lang ang nakakapuno sa kung anong emptiness na nasa puso natin. Kaya, balik lang po tayo ng balik kay Lord. Kahit makasalanan tayo, balik lang tayo ng balik,” she said.

Challenges and changes are part of everyone’s journey leading to success.

“Maraming pagbabago and challenges. I am sure nakaka-relate po tayo. Sometimes, we just have to open our hearts and minds, and welcome change,” she said.

Being in the industry for 15 years has not been easy. To reach that milestone, it takes a lot of hard work and struggles.

“Bago po ako makabuo ng 15 years sa industriya, kung saan saan na po kami nakarating ng magulang ko. Audition dito, audition diyan. Sali dito, sali diyan,” Geronimo said.

Geronimo got a big break in the industry after she won “Star for a Night” in 2003.

Aside from her successful albums and concerts, Geronimo also headlined blockbuster films like “A Very Special Love” (2008), “You Changed My Life” (2009), “Catch Me I’m In Love” (2011), “It Takes a Man and a Woman” (2013), “Maybe This Time” (2014), “Finally Found Someone” (2017), and “Miss Granny” (2018).

The concert

Just like Geronimo, Convergys is also celebrating its 15 years in the Philippine industry.

The “Made By YOU-Celebrating Our Stories, Embracing New Possibilities” concert at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino was Convergys’ way of thanking their Cebu,

Bacolod, and Davao based teams.

This is the second leg after the Smart Araneta concert last August 13 featuring Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

At the Cebu concert, Geronimo presented her 15th anniversary show “This 15 Me” with fellow Viva artists Sam Concepcion and Xian Lim.

Some of the songs she performed were “To Love You More” (Celine Dion), “I Don’t Wanna Miss Thing” (Aerosmith), and “Leaving on a Jet Plane” (John Denver).

She also sang her original hits “Tala” and “Ikot-Ikot.”
