Man shot dead in Consolacion

A man died on the spot after he was shot by two unidentified men riding on board a motorcycle along Cansaga Bay Bridge in Consolacion town, Cebu on Tuesday morning (Sept. 4).

Police identified the victim as Froilan Mabaga, 36, a resident of Barangay Lorega in Cebu City.

His woman companion, Jalica Baring, 22, a resident of Villagonzalo, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, was unharmed.

Initial investigation conducted by the Jagobiao police precinct showed that the victim was driving his motorcycle with Baring.

Upon reaching D.M. Cortes Street, another motorcycle halted and the back rider instructed Baring to disembark.

The back rider then fired shots at Mabaga several times.

Police found four empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Witnesses disclosed that the assailants sped off towards Barangay Tayud, Consolacion.

Authorities have yet to identify the motive of the crime and the identity of the assailants.
