JOINING beauty pageants has always been Freelyn Mae Flores’ passion.
When Binibining Cebu 2018 opened its doors for this year’s applicants, Flores saw it as an opportunity to also represent their town Poro.
“What makes Binibining Cebu special to me? This is one of the most prestigious pageants in the Philippines. It is not easy to be part of this competition. There are so many ladies competing for the title and being part of this is an honor for me especially bringing the name of my town Poro,” she said.
Poro is one of the four municipalities situated in Camotes Island.
What makes the people from Poro unique?
Aside from Cebuano, they can speak Hiligaynon and Waray-Waray.
The town’s main attraction is the Buho Rock Resort.
“It is known for its natural rock formation,” Flores said.
Tourists can enjoy activities, such as cliff diving and snorkeling.

“With Binibining Cebu, the winner will not just sit around and shake hands. She actually is being put to work which I take high interest in. I strongly believe I am set to do the job intended for a Binibining Cebu,” she said.
This is her second time to join Binibining Cebu. Last year, she wore the sash for Dalaguete and finished in the top 20.
This year, she represents the municipality of Ronda which she describes as a hidden treasure.
It has Les Maisons D’Itac and Villa Presito, among the popular resorts in the town.
The town also has the Lusno Falls, which is famous for its natural rock formations and crystal clear water.
“Taste buds will also be served and satisfied by the delicious sweet humba perfected in Ronda,” Piczon said.
