‘New players’ nabbed in buy bust

A woman and her niece were arrested by police in a drug buy bust operation and allegedly confiscated illegal drugs valued at P121,600.

The operation was conducted last Friday evening at Sitio Kagudoy Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Dalia Blanco, 52 and her niece Merian Blanco, 31, both residents of Baranga Basak are currently under police custody pending the filing of drug charges against them.

“Mga bag-o ni sila nga player kay wala man ni sila sa atong drug watch list,” said Chief Inspector Juan Capacio, chief of the Marigondon Police Station . (They are new players because they’re not in our drug watch list).

He said, they received information regarding the illegal drug activity of the suspects and conducted surveillance and the buy bust operation around 6 p.m.

The suspects said the illegal drugs don’t belong to them but were just left by a friend who instructed them to hand it over to a person who was later known to be a police poseur buyer.

A few minutes later, the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested two others in another buy bust operation in St. Paul Village, Sitio Kinalumsan Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu city.

Arrested were Jerico Solano, 41 and Almirante Castañares, 32. Illegal drugs valued at P23,600 were allegedly confiscated from them.

Supt. Mark Gifter Sucalit, Chief of the City Intelligence Branch said, the suspects were also new players considering they were not in the drug watch list.

Four others were also recently arrested in a buy bust operation conducted by Mactan Police Station led by Chief Insp. Wayne Magbanua in Sitio Saac 2 Barangay Buaya.

They were identified as Randy Siaton, 32, Analito Sevilla, 44, Bictor Versoza, 27, Rafael Martinez, 26.

Police allegedly recovered P5,000 worth of suspected shabu from their possession.

According to Magbanua, all were not in their drug watch list.
