At 5-0, Yayoy still wants UC to improve

5 p.m. – USJ-R vs USC
6:30 p.m. – UC vs USPF

EVEN WITH their immaculate 5-0 win-loss record, University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters head coach Yayoy Alcoseba is not putting his guard down and implored his players to shape up up for their match-up against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers today in the 2018 Cesafi men’s basketball tournament over at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Webmasters are coming off a 72-65 win over two-time defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) last Saturday. However, Alcoseba was not pleased with the disparity in rebounds as the Green Lancers badly beat them on the glass, 54-36.

“We have to improve our defensive and offensive rebounding. We also have to practice shot discipline and commit less turnovers,” said Alcoseba.

The Panthers have been no pushovers this season, sitting in second place in the standings right beside the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars at 4-1.

With renewed focus on defense anchored on Nigerian Rich Managor, the Panthers find themselves in a spot that they have not been at since the league’s early days.

The first game will feature the USJ-R taking on the University of San Carlos.

The Warriors are coming off a loss to the Green Lancers in their previous game and now hold a 2-3 card.
