THE Regional Intelligence Division (RID-7) of the Police Regional Office-7 is now being tasked by the region’s top police officer, Chief Supt. Debold Sinas to evaluate the request of former Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to be cleared of allegations that he is a drug protector.
This after Rama’s urine sample tested negative of illegal drugs based on the results released by the Regional Crime Laboratory.
Sinas said that Supt. Josefino Ligan, Deputy Chief of RID-7 will lead in evaluating the result after which a report would be submitted to the national headquarters of the Phillipine Drug Enforcement Agency in Manila.
The PDEA, Sinas said, will then decide if the former mayor’s name will be deleted from the list of narcopoliticians released by no less than President Duterte.
Last Friday (Sept. 28), Rama paid a courtesy call on Sinas and subjected himself to a drug test in a bid to clear his name.
Rama in previous interviews, insisted that he never used illegal drugs or acted as protector to any drug lord.
The former mayor is running as Cebu City vice mayor in next year’s midterm elections.
